Timothy Wilcox, Program Management Officer, Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific – Bangkok Thailand, United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR)


Mr Timothy Wilcox is the former Head of UNISDR’s Sub-Regional Office for the Pacific based in Suva, Fiji for many years, and has just moved to the UNISDR Regional Office in Bangkok.  Prior to this, he served in the Australian Public Service for 13 years including the Australian Diplomatic Corp posted to Fiji as Disaster Risk Management Team Leader and in the Australian Aid Program managing humanitarian policy, disaster risk management, and regional pandemic programs in both the Pacific and Asia regions.  While in the Pacific he has worked closely with the private sector to start many initiatives to build resilience particularly small businesses and locally owned hotels. 

He has served for seven years in the emergency services in both Canberra and Brisbane, Australia. He holds post-graduate qualifications in Emergency Management from Florida State University, a Masters of Human Services with Honours, and a Bachelor of Social Work.  He is also a member of the Australian Institute of Project Management and the International Association of Emergency Managers.
