Madeleine Brasser, Project leader Inclusive Value Chains, Oxfam Novib


Madeleine Brasser studied Social Anthropology and Land & Water Conservation at Wageningen University and graduated at the Leiden University. She has broad expertise and extensive experience in social aspects of private sector engagement, local level planning, human rights and gender equality. She held positions at the University of Wageningen, the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, UNDP, ILO in both African and Asian countries. Madeleine currently works at Oxfam as project leader of inclusive value chain projects in the palm oil sector in Indonesia and of a women’s land rights and resilience project. She has been involved in the co-creation and implementation of FAIR company community partnerships in the palm oil sector where gender equality has been put centre stage. She has been a gender adviser to the SIDA funded Gender Transformative and Responsible Agribusiness Investment programme in South East-Asia. Madeleine is co-chair of the Human Rights Working Group of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil and leads on the gender equality agenda.
