Corporate community investment - minimum standards to ensure no harm done

Strategic corporate community investment is not charity. It is a deliberate investment by companies to make a positive impact on social and environmental challenges, that is also aligned to business interests and provides business value. Similar to any other business investment – researching and understanding the landscape and existing best practices, through engaging with key actors on the ground, is needed to ensure good investment decisions. Likewise corporate community investment professionals need to be aware of existing minimum standards and best practice in development to ensure their business contribution is not creating more harm but the good it intended. This session will equip corporate community investment professionals with an understanding of minimum standards and best practice in the areas of volunteering, child protection and disaster response – the three key areas most companies invest their time and efforts in.
