Good Fashion: A Guide to Being an Ethical Clothing Company

The Future of CSR: Issues for the next decade
This is the research result of CSR Asia's project, CSR in 10, which examines the top ten issues emerging over the next ten years. CSR in 10 helps businesses to track and prepare for the emerging trends over the next decade. To do this we interview over 70 people from business, NGOs, government and academia who are well know for their views on CSR to see what trends they think business in the region will have to deal with. Their insights into the top ten issues facing business in a decade reveal what we all need to start thinking about and planning for now.

CSR in Asia: Who is getting it done? - The role of CSR professionals in Asia in 2008
This report allows those working in CSR roles within companies in Asia to understand how their role compares to others. It will enable those organisations working to support companies to understand what is needed to build capacity and to review developments going forward. Oxfam Transparency Report II: Have Hong Kong Garment Companies Improved Their Reporting on Labour Standards?
This paper is based on research undertaken by CSR Asia, with Dr. Stephen Frost and Ms. Catherine Walter as the researchers. This second Transparency Report revisits the issue of transparency in Hong Kong garment sector supply chain operations and seeks to provide an updated view of the overall performance, key developments and some of the key issues facing Hong Kong companies in this critical area. We hope that this report will encourage more Hong Kong garment companies to come forth and share in our efforts to improve labour standards, corporate transparency and simultaneously the reputation and competitiveness of Hong Kong companies.

Making Climate Your Business: Private Sector Adaptation in Southeast Asia
This report focuses on business in Southeast Asia and how businesses can contribute to climate change adaptation. It demonstrates that business action is critical for assuring successful adaptation across society. While governments and NGOs in the region are engaging with climate change, much of the business sector is yet to recognise its role. There are nevertheless some examples of good practice from the private sector included in the report.

CSR Asia Oxfam Corporate Social Responsibility Survey of Hang Seng Index Constituent Companies
This report is the first attempt to provide a snapshot representation of how the 43 companies listed on the Hang Seng Index weigh up on their CSR policies and practices. Oxfam Hong Kong see this as an initial effort to assess current CSR initiatives and as a basis for further dialogue with companies on sustainable social and environment development as well as poverty reduction. This paper is based on a survey undertaken by CSR Asia, with Professor Richard Welford and Ms. Jacqui Dixon as the principal researchers.

CSR Asia Business Barometer: The State of CSR Disclosure in Asia 2008
The ‘CSR Asia Business Barometer 2008’ compares the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) disclosure of the 20 largest listed companies in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. More companies are seeing the value of making commitments to responsible business practices and disclosing their practices. Publicly available reports based on a robust data collection and reporting framework can be an excellent communication tool to inform stakeholders of CSR strategy, approach and performance.

Corporate Social Responsibility in Malaysian PLCs: 2007 Status Report
This report shows the current status of CSR within Malaysia and how listed companies are responding to social and environmental challenges in the 21st century. CSR Asia was commissioned by Bursa Malaysia to undertake the research by designing a CSR survey in line with international standards. The survey covered the four dimensions defined in the CSR Framework launched by Bursa Malaysia in September 2006: Marketplace, Workplace, Environment and Community.

Work life balance in Hong Kong: Survey results
This report, based on a survey of 1,027 employees in Hong Kong, reveals the general improvement in work-life balance of Hong Kong employees compared with our same study done in 2004. It contains the results of a questionnaire-based survey distributed in cooperation with Hong Kong employers.

Reporting on Community Impacts
This research project was initiated by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and carried out by the University of Hong Kong and CSR Asia, together with GRI staff. The objective was to gain a better understanding of current practices of the reporting of community performance and impact in terms of approach, type of information, patterns (by sectors and geographical locations) as well as how this relates to the GRI G3 Guidelines.

Priorities for Corporate Social Responsibility: A Survey of Businesses and their Stakeholders
This a summary report of the survey, which was undertaken by the CSR Asia in association with the Centre of Urban Planning and Environmental Management at the University of Hong Kong. The main aim was to find out what Hong Kong businesses and their stakeholders thought were the most important factors in determining what is socially responsible.
