This report says that several banana companies have admitted to having child laborers in banana plantations. Many of these children are working in plantations, particularly of banana growers contracted by big banana companies to grow and harvest their supply of bananas. The practice usually entails the growers employing their own children or those of their neighbours to work in the plantations. Dire poverty is driving the children to work in the plantations and farms.
