Japanese prime minister Yasuo Fukuda announced Wednesday that Indonesia will receive US $300 million as part of the first batch of aid sent under Japan's new initiative on fighting climate change, the Cool Earth Partnership programme. Eventually, Japan aims to extend aid worth US $10 billion, mostly in low-interest loans, to developing nations to meet the goal of halving carbon emissions by 2050.
