Who is the Professional Master’s in Corporate Social Responsibility (PMCSR) designed for?

The programme is designed for managers operating in the private sector and those in government and civil society organisations who are interested in developing their skills in CSR. Such professionals are expected to have experience in fields associated with sustainable development and CSR.

What is the structure of the PMCSR?

The PMCSR comprises 33 credit points. Eight taught module of 3 credits each with the total teaching component comprising 24 credits. The remaining 9 credits will be made up of 3 credits for a Special Study Assignment and 6 credits for a Final Project

Each module is delivered over four days (Friday-Monday) of intensive learning at a location in downtown Bangkok, Thailand. Participants have up to three years to attend all eight modules and one year from the completion of the final module in which to complete the Special Study Assignment and Final Project. All eight modules will be offered at least once within one calendar year and can be taken in any order.Each module will include pre and post module assignments and all coursework must be completed to graduate from the PMCSR.

Special Study Assignment (3 credits)

The special study project provides an opportunity for students to pursue a line of investigation that they are personally interested in with supervision from relevant course instructors. The project would normally result in a research report or detailed case study related to the subject being studied. The special study project will be related to the student’s work and comprise approximately 5000 words.

Final Project (6 credits)

The six-credit project will also be based on action learning principles. Students will develop their own unique CSR-related project. Projects will normally be linked to the workplace of the student. Each student will be assigned a designated project supervisor most suited to give guidance on the chosen topic. The report is expected to be in the order of 15,000 words.

What is the cost of the PMCSR?

The total cost of the program is 493,350 Thai Baht (THB) / $16, 450 USD* (approximately).

This consists of 14,000 THB per credit - or 42,000 THB per taught module, 42,000 THB for the special study assignment and 84,000 THB for the final project. It also includes 30,000 THB registration fees and 1,350 THB administration fees.

Tuition, registration and administration fees are payable in 1 installment of 95,350 Baht, 2 installments of 94,000 Baht and 1 installment of 84,000 Baht. These installments are payable before the 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th modules. Each installment covers the cost of two modules of 42,000 Baht per module. In addition, the administration fees of 1,350 baht is payable in the first installment and the applicable AIT registration fees of 30,000 is split between the first three payments.

Payment for the Final Project and Special Study Assignment of 84,000 Baht and 42,000 Baht will be required upon confirmation of supervisor

Modules taken as stand-alone courses prior to registration in the master’s degree programme cost 50,000 THB / $1,670 USD*(approx.) per module.

How long will it take to complete the PMCSR?

Participants have up to three years in which to complete all eight modules and one additional year (from the date of the last module) in which to complete the special study assignment and final project.

Who will teach the modules?

Each module will be taught by both professors from the Asian Institute of Technology along with CSR industry practitioners from CSR Asia. Modules will also include guest speakers from various sectors with relevant industry experience.

What will the class schedule be like for each module?

Classes will be delivered over four full days from Friday – Monday. They will start at 9 in the morning and include evening classes. On the Monday afternoon classes will be completed by 4:30pm.

How much pre and post-module work will be required?

There will pre-module readings and work required ahead of the module which will take approximately one day while post-module course work will likely take 2-3 days to complete

How large are the class sizes?

Class sizes are anticipated to be between15-20 students. Class sizes will be kept to a small number to ensure maximum student involvement and high quality learning.

Can I enroll in individual modules rather than complete the whole PMCSR?

Yes, individual modules are open to participants who wish to take individual courses but do not wish to receive a Master’s Degree in Corporate Social Responsibility.

Up to two modules taken as stand-alone courses on a non-degree basis may be subsequently transferred to the degree programme within one year of the commencement of the first module taken – provided all pre- and post- course work has been successfully completed. Any courses taken more than one year prior to enrolment in the professional master’s in CSR programme will have to be repeated to be awarded the course credits necessary for earning the professional master’s degree in CSR.

What are the entry requirements for the PMCSR?

Eligible candidates applying for admission will be executives in companies or other organizations who hold an undergraduate degree and have a minimum of 3 years relevant work experience.

Applicants who do not have a traditional education background (i.e. an undergraduate degree) will be considered if they have significant relevant professional experience; which will include a minimum of 10 years of work experience and at least five years of management experience.

How do I apply?

Application and referee forms can be downloaded from the CSR Asia at AIT website http://www.csrcenter.ait.asia/. Applications will be received on a rolling basis as modules are designed to be taken in any order. There are no registration deadlines however a minimum of six weeks will be required to process applications.
